Description
The largest known compsognathid at 2.4m long, Sinocalliopteryx gigas ("giant Chinese beautiful feather") towered over its better-known relative Sinosauropteryx. As I mentioned in my previous restoration, it is known to have fed on other carnivorous Yixian dinosaurs (dromaeosaurs no less), which is, I assume, why internet discussions don't focus on who would win in a fight between S. gigas and Sinornithosaurus. However, it was not the largest predator in its environment, and may have been hunted itself by the tyrannosaur Raptorex.

This may sound a little weird, but I've been examining the high-res photo of the holotype from Wikpedia and noticed that its tail preserves a very faint stripe-pattern, similar to the ine they found on Sinosauropteryx. So, who knows, maybe Sinocalliopteryx was reddish as well...
